DANIEL PINK'S MOVIE ENTRY: Janruary 15, 2008 Daniel Pink's movie is essentially the taping of a speech that he gives about his book. I must say, this movie changed things for me. I felt like seeing this likeable man speak in a humorous and believable way about his ideas was much more tangible to me. It seemed less frightening when you see a human in flesh and blood, just like you, speaking about this scary future. It's like while I watched this movie; I felt the humanity coming from Pink that you simply don't get from a cold, hard book. The book's words are harsh and clearly left brained text. When a real person explained this to me and even related his findings and beliefs to his own life, I felt less intimidated by Pink's hefty thesis. It's amazing to me how just hearing the exact same words coming from a different source can sway your feelings about the cold hard facts. Facts seem more like a choice when you have an agreeable human being telling them to you in an empathetic way. Even just viewing this movie and watching my feelings change from a higher plane made me just a little bit more accepting of what Pink might say. This change of my own feelings when shown a little empathy is just another piece of evidence to attest to Pink's theory about human empathy. After watching this movie, I may not still quite believe in Pink's ideas and predictions, but I have decided at least I like him as a person and respect his intelligence.
